Earliness-Tardiness Scheduling Around Almost Equal Due Dates

چکیده
The just-in-time concept in manufacturing has aroused interest in machine scheduling problems with earliness-tardiness penalties. In particular, common due date problems, which are structurally less complicated than problems with general due dates, have emerged as an interesting and proliic eld of research. We prove that so-called almost common due date problems, in which the due date d j and processing time p j of each job J j (j = 1; : : : ; n) are such that d j 2 D; D +p j ] for some constant D, are structurally less complicated also. Our main contribution is an O(n 2) time dynamic programming algorithm for the almost common due date problem with large D. The dynamic programming algorithm is interesting in its own right, since the optimality principle behind it applies to other common due date and almost common due date problems as well.

A Scatter Search Algorithm for the RCPSP with Discounted Weighted Earliness-Tardiness Costs
In this paper, we study a resource-constrained project scheduling problem in which a set of project activities have due dates. If the finish time of each one of these activities is not equal to its due date, an earliness or a tardiness cost exists for each tardy or early period. The objective is to minimize the sum of discounted weighted earliness-tardiness penalty costs of these activities. Sc...
متن کاملThe preemptive resource-constrained project scheduling problem subject to due dates and preemption penalties: An integer programming approach
Extensive research has been devoted to resource constrained project scheduling problem. However, little attention has been paid to problems where a certain time penalty must be incurred if activity preemption is allowed. In this paper, we consider the project scheduling problem of minimizing the total cost subject to resource constraints, earliness-tardiness penalties and preemption penalties, ...
متن کاملPreemption in Single Machine Earliness/Tardiness Scheduling
We consider a single machine earliness/tardiness scheduling problem with general weights, ready times and due dates. Using completion time information obtained from the optimal solution to a preemptive relaxation, we generate feasible solutions to the original non-preemptive problem. We report extensive computational results demonstrating the speed and effectiveness of this approach.
متن کاملA Possibility Linear Programming Approach to Solve a Fuzzy Single Machine Scheduling Problem
This paper employs an interactive possibility linear programming approach to solve a single machine scheduling problem with imprecise processing times, due dates, as well as earliness and tardiness penalties of jobs. The proposed approach is based on a strategy of minimizing the most possible value of the imprecise total costs, maximizing the possibility of obtaining a lower total costs, and mi...
متن کاملScheduling in dynamic assembly job-shops to minimize the sum of weighted earliness, weighted tardiness and weighted flowtime of jobs
In many manufacturing systems, jobs that are completed early are held as finished-goods inventory until their due-dates, and hence we incur earliness costs. Similarly, jobs that are completed after their due-dates incur penalty. The objective in such situations would, therefore, be to meet the due-dates of the respective jobs as closely as possible, and consequently minimize the sum of earlines...
